Two-Phase Corporate Event Experience in Washington, DC

Pretty Pretty Backdrops partnered with Beneath the Service to create a coordinated visual experience delivered across two phases—first in June and again in August.
The project brought together custom stage displays, classic balloon columns, beige event draping, a standalone step and repeat, and an open-air digital photo booth. Each element was thoughtfully planned to support the event's branding, organize the space, and create a polished environment for attendees.
The Vision
The client wanted the event environment to feel intentional, welcoming, and visually connected to its established brand. The design needed to incorporate the selected color palette while creating several distinct areas within the event space.
The central stage required a strong visual feature for presentations and programming. Separate areas were also needed for an open-air photo booth and a standalone step and repeat, giving attendees multiple opportunities to interact with the event and capture photos.
Because the project would take place in two phases, the overall visual approach also needed to remain cohesive from one event date to the next.
Project Considerations
The event space needed to support several different functions without feeling visually disconnected. The central stage, photo booth, and step-and-repeat areas each required their own identity, but they still needed to appear as coordinated parts of one environment.
The custom stage panels created visual impact from the front, but their support hardware needed to remain hidden from attendees viewing the installation from the surrounding areas. The draping therefore needed to do more than provide a decorative background. It also had to help define the layout and create a clean, finished presentation from multiple viewpoints.
Installation timing, access to the event space, and maintaining consistency across the June and August phases were also important parts of the production plan.
The PPB Solution
Pretty Pretty Backdrops created a custom stage feature using printed panels in the event's selected color palette. Panels in varying heights and shapes were arranged to add dimension and visual interest while maintaining a relatively small footprint in front of the stage.
Beige draping was installed behind the center stage display and extended with side panels to divide the space into three distinct zones:
- A central area for the main stage
- A side area for the open-air digital photo booth
- A second side area for the standalone step and repeat
The side draping also concealed the rear hardware supporting the custom stage panels. This ensured attendees moving through the room saw a neat, finished presentation rather than the installation's functional components.
Classic balloon columns used the event's five-color palette. The columns added height, color, and a celebratory element while complementing the professional conference environment.
The standalone step and repeat provided a dedicated branded photo area, while the open-air digital photo booth offered a more interactive experience. The photo booth included branded digital features and allowed guests to receive and share their images electronically.
A Cohesive Two-Phase Experience
The first phase took place in June, followed by the second in August. Working across two separate phases required the installations to remain visually consistent while still supporting each event's needs.
PPB coordinated the delivery, installation, photo-booth activation, and breakdown around the event schedule and venue access requirements. The result was a consistent visual experience that carried the event branding from one phase to the next.

The Finished Experience
The completed installation transformed the room into three distinct but visually connected event zones.
The custom panels created a dimensional focal point for the center stage. The beige draping framed the main presentation area, established dedicated spaces for the photo booth and step and repeat, and concealed the supporting hardware for a clean appearance throughout the room.
The balloon columns carried the event's color palette into the surrounding space, while the two photo areas gave attendees different ways to engage with the experience.
Together, the custom displays, draping, balloons, and interactive elements created a cohesive, functional, and photo-ready environment across both phases of the project.
